For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the controller of personal information collected through this website.

This policy covers this website only. Where we host or support software for our customers (for example Asset Locate or a bespoke system), we handle the data in those systems on our customers' behalf under separate agreements, and the customer's own privacy notice applies.

The short version

This is a simple information website. It has no user accounts, no comment or contact forms, no advertising and no analytics. It does not set cookies. We only receive personal information when you choose to contact us, and our web server keeps standard technical logs.

When you contact us

If you telephone or email us, or write to us, we collect what you tell us: typically your name, your organisation, your contact details and the content of your enquiry.

Web server logs

When you visit this website our web server automatically records technical information, including your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page or file requested, the response code, the type of browser or device you are using and, where your browser sends it, the page that referred you. This is used to keep the site secure and working properly.

Map (optional)

The contact page offers an optional map from OpenStreetMap. It is only loaded if you click the button to load it. If you do, OpenStreetMap receives your IP address and browser details, and its own privacy policy applies. If you don't click, nothing is sent to OpenStreetMap.

How and why we use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and provide quotes. We do this because it is in our legitimate interests to answer people who contact us, and to take steps you ask for before entering a contract.
  • To provide support and services to our customers. We do this to perform our contracts with you.
  • To keep our website and systems secure and working. We use server logs to detect and investigate attacks and faults. This is in our legitimate interests.
  • To tell you about our products and services. We may in some cases use your business email address to send you information about our products and services. Every such message gives you the option to opt out of future marketing emails. Where the law requires your consent, we will ask for it first.
  • To meet legal obligations, for example keeping accounting records.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We may need to pass information to other companies for administrative purposes, for example the providers of our email, telephone, hosting and support systems. They act on our instructions, and they are not allowed to use your personal information for their own purposes. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and customer information for as long as it is needed for the enquiry or the business relationship, and afterwards for as long as we need to for legal, accounting or security reasons. Web server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting and are then deleted.
